Our Inclusive, Needs-Led Programme Approach
The Four Diamonds Programme is a needs-led, inclusive care programme designed for children who require additional support to feel safe, engaged, and valued. Through personalised supervision, structured activities, and a calm, judgement-free environment, children are supported to build confidence, friendships, and essential life skills.
The following real-world backgrounds highlight the diverse needs of children supported through our Four Diamonds Programme and demonstrate how inclusive, tailored care makes a meaningful difference.
Backgrounds of Children Using Four Diamonds Programme
Child 1 – Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Global Developmental Delay
This child is 18, but her brain age is that of a 10-year-old. There are no other programmes available to her locally. Since attending, all the children have made her feel part of the group, and no one has discriminated against her because of her age. She is a bubbly, happy child. She must be given instructions personally (not in a group situation), as she can process it easier.
Child 2 – Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit
This child is 12, has been to over 6 different programmes, and has not been accepted by other children. The child has had meltdowns and been verbally aggressive to staff and other children to the point that parents have had to come and collect on numerous occasions.
This child's sibling was always asked to take care of her brother. This child took two days to properly settle in. Once the child was made to feel he could come and speak to a supervisor whenever his demeanour changed, and he was calmer, as he expected everyone to be against him. He does sometimes experience frustration, but this has been minimised by the staff ratio of 1:6 and his awareness that he is in a safe place.
Child 3 - Non-Verbal Autism Spectrum Disorder
This child is 8 and was excluded from several programmes because they could not look after him. He was found wandering out of the gates. The needs assessment shows this child can be included with other children but requires 1:1 supervision for his safety. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, this child has participated in most activities under his supervisor's guidance. This child finds the noise excessive, so his parents have been advised to buy noise-cancelling headphones or earmuffs to help keep him calm. He enjoys playing with certain toys allocated just for him.
Child 4 – Non-Verbal Autism Spectrum Disorder
This child is 6 and cannot be in any programme, as he requires 1:1 support due to running away. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, he has had his own 1:1 supervisor. He really enjoys watching the other children play computer games and will stand there clapping and laughing. He also brings his tablet to watch the stopwatch on it. He will participate in 5% of activities with the help of his 1:1
Child 5 - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
This child is 9 and has always been told off for not listening to instructions on other programmes. Parents are advised that whenever they pick up their child, their child is not listening to them. This child has been included in the Four Diamonds Programme at a 1:6 ratio and has made many new friends. Although he may not process instructions the first time, he usually does it on the 2nd attempt.
Child 6 - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
This child is 8 and gets bored easily; other programmes have not had suitable toys or equipment to keep him entertained. He has outbursts of temper due to boredom and alienates any friends. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, he loves getting creative with his art and making things for the dinosaurs he brings with him. He has made 1 close friend, and they make toys and forts together.
Child 7 - Autism Spectrum Disorder
This child is 9, is extremely shy, and did not make any friends on the other programme. Would stamp feet and cry to be collected. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, he has made 2 close friends. They enjoy setting up the car and train tracks and playing with LEGO. He participates in 100% of the set activities if he has guidance from a supervisor. His favourite prize game is playing musical chairs.
Child 8 - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
This child is 7, would get into trouble with other programmes, and due to boredom, he would do naughty things. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, he has made new friends. Although he has done a couple of naughty things, it was because he was "showing off". He is a lovely child and will participate in 50% of the activities.
Child 9 - Autism Spectrum Disorder & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Legally Deaf
This child, who is 10, has attended several programmes. refuses to go back. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, she has made many new friends, with whom she talks online outside the programme. She loves talking to supervisors.
Her parents have advised that she is happy to come back each day.
Child 10 - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder
This child is 12 and was unsupported by other programmes due to outbursts and defiance. Because of this, other children have excluded this child. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, she has made friends and participates in some activities at a 1:6 ratio. There have been no concerns to date.
Child 11 - Autism Spectrum Disorder & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
This child is 12, left alone and excluded. They got into trouble due to boredom in other programmes. Parents are getting phone calls during the day that he is not listening to, and they need to come collect. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, this child feels included, participates in 50% of activities; social skills have increased, with 3 good friends made, and has not been in any trouble.
Child 12 - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
This child is 12 and has always been told off for not listening to instructions at other programmes. Parents are currently homeschooling due to this child's exclusion. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, this child needs to be reminded of the rules and instructions. He wants to help supervisors set up activities and is extremely friendly to everybody.
Child 13 - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
This child is 14, has always been told off for not listening to instructions on other programmes and has been bullied by other children. Parents are currently homeschooling their child due to this child's exclusion. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, this child has been remarkably calm and always smiling. She loves to help the younger children.
Child 14 - Autism Spectrum Disorder & Generalised Anxiety Disorder
This child is 10, always having panic attacks and did not make friends in the other programme. A private babysitter has been hired for the last 3 years in the home. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, he has not had any panic attacks; he is comfortable talking to a supervisor and has made friends. He participates in 100% of the activities. His favourite thing to do is shoot hoops at the basketball net.
Child 15 - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder
This child is 12, and gets into trouble daily, eventually leading to exclusion and expulsion from programmes. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, they have not been in any trouble and participated in 85% of activities. has favourite toys and is excellent with imagination, extremely helpful to staff and other children, well-mannered.
Child 16 - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Global Development Delay
This child is 14, getting into trouble at another programme, and has been excluded from being "naughty". This child settled in with the Four Diamonds Programme quickly, given 100% of activities a go, made many friends, and been helpful to staff and the younger children.
Child 17 - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
This child is 13, has always been told off for not listening to instructions on other programmes and has been bullied by other children. Parents are currently homeschooling due to this child's exclusion. Since attending the Four Diamonds Programme, this child does need to be reminded of rules and instructions. He wants to help supervisors set up activities and is extremely friendly to everybody.
